The thing I'm obsessed with

Aprons!
I LOVE aprons they are just so fantastic and awesome!  Sadly, I only have two that I can use at the moment but I plan to remedy that soon lol. I tried to explain what they mean to me to my mom and my husband, but they never understood, and it doesn't help that I could explain it well enough but I recently read a blog post titled Apron Evangelism from Hillbilly Housewife. It explained how I felt about them and inspired me even more about wearing them.  After I showed it to my mother and husband they finally understand my love now.  I went searching on google for apron patterns and there are a TON of them it's so hard to choose from them all.

The recipe for today is what I'm making for dinner on Monday:

Taco Soup
1 lb lean ground beef
1 (28 oz) can of tomatoes (3-4 cups)
1 (17 oz) can whole kernel corn
2 cups of water
1 sm. onion
1 (15 oz) can kidney or black beans
2-3 tblsp taco seasoning
Brown ground beef and onion. Mix in with remaining ingredients. Simmer for 15 minutes. Serve with tortilla chips or Fritos. Serves 8.

Anyway I have to go back to cleaning the stove. I decided at midnight the stove needed to be deep cleaned and I took it apart and scrubbed and scrubbed and it looks shiny! Although I had to soak the metal parts under the burners all night and I still have to scrub them but the Hubbs loved the kitchen when he got up to go to work this morning so it made it all worthwhile.

Thanks for checking back!

Chirstmas Time

Gah! It's Christmas time! I've been ready for Christmas since before Halloween.  However, I have next to nothing put up for Christmas other than a wreath that My Hubs' company sent us (that was so sweet). Everything else is either still on boxes or haven't been baought yet (like the tree!) Hopefully we're going to buy it on the 16th along with a tree skirt (no time to make one right now).... and lights.... and the base... What are you talking about I'm prepared. Yeah right like anyone would believe that lol!

Seriously A Homemaker (love her!) has a really pretty matle that I just LOVE and it's not a traditional Christmas green and red, however it is red, but I'm not alway one for tradition. and she said she didn't go shopping for it and that she just "shopped" around her house.  Here is the mantle isn't it pretty?

Make it and Love it has a ton of fun tutorials for christmas also! She uses her Silhouette alot and I really wish I have one but it isn't going to happen anytime soon. Here are some of her projects: framed wall vinylStockingstree skirt, and burlap stockings.

I'm running out of time now before Lily starts demanding for iCarly, believe it or not it was my husband who got her addicted to it, and I still need to finnish folding the laundry lol. So tata for now!

Putting off doing things

So I started to type up all of my recipes onto a flash drive and I got pretty far. However, sadly I ran out of steam. Actually I had started doing it so I could put off doing the dishes. Now I'm blogging to put off typing my recipes. How sad is that? It would be even worse if I didn't put a recipe up today huh? So therefore I will put up one I will randomly open to.

Good news! We got a new table last night! Also I'm getting a couple sewing machines here soon too! Anyway here is the recipe:

Sarah’s Potato Soup
1/2 a stick of butter
2 medium carrots (diced)
1 small onion (diced) (or minced onion)
2 tbs. flour
8 medium russet potatoes (peeled and cut into smallish cubes)
4 cups of milk
4-6 chicken bouillon cubes, dissolved in 1/2 cup hot milk
1 cup half and half
salt and pepper.

You melt butter and sauté onion and carrots (if using minced onions I just used as much as I thought a small onion would make) until both are slightly tender (about 5 mins). Whisk in flour and cook 1 minute. Add potatoes, milk, and dissolved bouillon cubes. Cook over medium heat for 15 minutes until potatoes are very soft. Add half and half and pepper and salt.

We had a date night!

Hello!  I thought I'd type up a quick post while I have a free moment in this busy day.  So far I've done all the laundry and started washing all of the bedding and the rugs.  I also swept and mopped the house and I've got to vacuum the rest of it in a moment. I did all the dishes.  I also have dinner for marinating for tonight and I plan on getting it all done by the time I pull it out of the fridge.  I found a huge fillet of salmon for sale at Smith's last night and I couldn't just put it down and walk away from it so I invited another couple over to have a double date night with salmon, mashed potatoes, and green beans yummy.  I'm going to post the recipes on here for the marinade I hope you all like it.

I have been in such a major Christmas kick today and listened to a TON of Christmas music lol.  I just hope I can get Lily unafraid of Christmas trees before we put ours up.  She did wonderfully last year with the tree but out of the blue she is afraid of them this year.  I even got a few wrapped presents hiding throughout the apartment.  I just hope the Hubbs doesn't find them.  I guess it's time to stop procrastinating and start again.

Jamie's Salmon Marinade
4 tbs melted butter
4 tbs extra virgin olive oil
1 1/2 tsp basil
1 tsp sea salt
6 tbs lemon juice
2 tsp parsley
dash of dill weed
dash of onion powder
dash of garlic powder

mix and marinade for 2 1/2 hours. wrap in foil and bake at 375°  for 35-40 mins

Another new day

Hey guys! I hope everyone is going well.  Princess has a cold sadly. Having a sick two year old isn't fun.  But blessedly both my husband and I haven't got it yet.  Anyway I'm sitting here today trying to get myself motivated to clean. I got a lot of cleaning done yesterday but not as much as I wanted to.  So here I am blogging and listening to tips on homemaking and organizing on youtube and on about.com. I wasn't raised really to be a homemaker even though it's what I wanted to do when I was little and growing up. I was raised but my Grandparents but they're my Parents to me even before they adopted me. Anyway, my mom has worked as long as she can remember she says and when I was growing up she was a nurse so I never got the chance to learn the tricks of the trade.  So thankfully with the help of the internet I'm learning lol.  One tip I've learned is that I get more done and have more energy whenever I get dressed in the mornings (however today not so much oddly enough) and that I feel better about myself. I actually started a list of rooms and places to organize today so and started in on a chore chart so I guess today isn't that big of a waste lol. I'm also on my last load of laundry but I've been putting off folding it so I'm staring at a big pile of clean clothes in the living room.

We moved into our own apartment in September but I have yet to get the master room and Princess's room unpacked and organized and I'm kinda worried about Princess's room to be honest because we're going to get her into her toddler bed when I get her room together and I have no idea what I should take out of her room and what not. So anyway I'm going to sign off for now and try to get my rambling under control as well as the laundry lol.

See you next time!

Happy First of November

I hope Halloween was fun for everyone! I know it was a blast here unfortunately my husband had class last night so he didn't go trick-or-treating with us for the first time with our daughter last night :( but thankfully my parents came and went with us so that was fun.  Princess was a Ballerina (at least that's what it said on the package but it came with wings and a devil horns headband does that make sense?) Oh well she was so stinking adorable anyway lol.  I even got to dress up as the Mad Hatter. Princess got so into it after she figured out that she didn't have to trade the candy she got for more lol she even got into knocking on all the doors.

Now it's time to get ready for Christmas (oh, and Thanksgiving too lol) and I've already been listening to Christmas music today. I hope I get a new sewing machine this year I hope all my "hints" (flat out telling) to my husband that I need a new one.

last but not least recipe of the day is from Picky Palate

It's been too long

My goodness it's been a busy past little while.  We moved into our apartment.  I actually managed to hang pictures today!  I've got my dresser from my parents house too! I also got a few other things put away and organized.

Anyway, I have decided to share the first recipe and it's one I've made a couple times here during the time when I started to stress. My husband laughed when he came home and joked that for dinners I made Hamburger Helper and other easy and quick dinners but the first thing I made from scratch was my favorite little treat called "Buckeyes" and with out further ado (and rambling) here is the recipe:

Buckeyes

2 cups of creamy peanut butter
1/4 cup of unsalted butter (room temp)
1/4 teaspoon of salt
1/2 teaspoon of pure vanilla
2- 2 1/2 cups of powdered sugar
melted chocolate

Cream the peanut butter and the butter together.  Add the salt and the vanilla and mix well. Add the powdered sugar until it becomes a firm dough.  If needed add more sugar than called for to make it thicker.  Roll the dough into 1" balls and refrigerate for an hour (Tip: to roll the balls easier you should wash your hand often in between every couple balls or the dough will start sticking to you).  Remove the balls from the refrigerator and dip half way into the melted chocolate and put them back into the fridge for another hour then serve. They should be kept either in the fridge or the freezer depending on where you live they might melt fast.

Welcome and hello!

Hey guys I'm Jamie if there is anyone out there reading this thank you!  I'm going to at least try to blog once a week.  I'm very terrible at even keeping a diary lol.  But I think if  I do it enough it'll become a fun habit.

I'm hoping to be moving very very soon so when I do I'm going to be putting alot of my crafts and recipes on here too.  I've got to go as it's very hard to type with a 2 year old trying to help.
